PROJECTS

1100m Long Raised Bikeway Structure

Principal Contractor: McIlwain

Principal: TMR

Date: Q1 2019 to Q1 2020

Project Description:  Construction of a 1100m long raised bikeway structure, connecting Holland Park West to Tarragindi.

The project was located within a significantly restricted corridor between the M3 Motorway and the adjacent local roads.

There was a total of 18 spans, with each span consisting of a cast in-situ column, pier headstock, 2 x super tee girders and concrete deck.

The structure included two road crossings at interchange signalised intersections - one at Marshall Road and one at Stercula Avenue. Each road crossing required temporary road closures and night works with significant planning to successfully execute the works within a time sensitive period.

CR2SM project on the Bruce Highway

Principal Contractor: Fulton Hogan Seymour Whyte Joint Venture

Principal: TMR

Date: Q2 2018 to Q4 2020

Project Description:  Construction of five bridges as part of the CR2SM project on the Bruce Highway.

Two of these bridges were constructed over the Bruce Highway for the overpass on Steve Irwin Way / Caloundra Road, spanning a total length of 112m each.

These bridges had complexities associated with the skew and crossfall of the structures, whilst constructing adjacent to high traffic volumes on the Bruce Highway.

A key accomplishment on this project was the successful landing of 51 deck units on the Sunshine Motorway and Western Service Road Overpass, over the duration of a single work shift.

Bridge over the Fitzroy River

Principal Contractor: CMC

Principal: TMR

Date: Q3 2020 to Q2 2021

Project Description:  Construction of a new bridge over the Fitzroy River associated with the overall Rookwood Weir project at Gogango, west of Rockhampton.

The bridge was an eight span, Super T girder structure with an overall length of 220m and height of up to 20m.

The structural concrete scope included cast in-situ pile caps, blade walls, headstocks and a deck slab.

This bridge had a significant crane lift associated with an 80t Super T Girder, utilising three cranes to successfully land into position.

Glen Eden also used custom designed and fabricated steel falsework to support the weight of successive concrete pours from completed works below, rather than supporting from the ground. This was due to the significant height of the bridge and ongoing risk of flooding of the Fitzroy River.
